Latest website tune-up

morse-screen1 morse-screen2

GlowView was asked to refresh the Morse Measurements website with a fresh new design, CMS capabilities, and improved SEO. Morse Measurements’ old website did not allow anyone in the company to maintain the site on their own or make their own updates. Worse still, the URL structure was severely lacking for SEO – all pages on the site were some variation of ‘/store.asp?id=xxx&catid=xxx’. That’s just plain awful… not only were those URLs ugly and hard to remember, they did not contain any keywords. GlowView created a contemporary new design and built the new website on the WordPress platform with a custom built WordPress theme. URLs were fixed to be search engine friendly, and 301 permanent redirects were established for all the old ugly URLs. This keeps search engines up-to-date with your new content and ensures old bookmarks and links to your website will continue to work after launch of your new website. Morse Measurements’ search engine ranking is on the rise, they have a great new look, and they have ability to keep the website fresh and up-to-date on their own with new content.

Some key website features include:

  • Image sliders
  • Constant Contact integration
  • Dynamic text sizing
  • Upcoming Events custom post type, with “sticky” functionality
  • Password secured client area

Training and 30 days of support are provided on all GlowView website development projects.

GlowView causing Havoc!

Uber funny political blog, Havoc on the Hill teamed up with GlowView for their website refresh. Havoc had begun to outgrow their WordPress.com hosted blog. GlowView jettisoned Havoc from their limited WordPress.com blog and moved them to their own custom WordPress(.org) installation. A custom theme and plugins were developed and implemented and all of Havoc’s old data was exported and imported to their new WordPress 3.3.1 site.

Moving off WordPress.com opens up the ability to design custom themes (not cookie cutter), install/create/customize any plugins, and generally do whatever you can dream up as long as you have a capable developer at your side, *cough* GlowView. ;)

Some new neato features that couldn’t have been accomplished on WordPress.com:

  • Featured post area
  • Custom Twitter feed widget
  • Recent posts widget
  • Facebook commenting system

Check out the new HavocOnTheHill.com –  The Word’s Best Website in the World.

WordPress website launch

We’re pleased to announce the launch of the newly re-designed ExecVision website. ExecVision serves CEOs, business owners and business leaders in the Charlotte NC area, by providing leadership and business coaching. Their old website was static PHP and most content updates needed to be completed by a web developer. Their new site is built on the Open Source WordPress 3.2.1 CMS (Content Management System), which allows them to have full control of website content, images, etc. A couple of new features include weekly newsletters and a sign-up form with MailChimp mailing list integration. The main goals for the new site design were to make it bigger, brighter, more colorful. We think we achieved those goals and the client agrees!
